Mission

The Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) aims to promote a better society, more fair, more just — a world where technology promotes broad social inclusion based on fundamental rights, democratic institutions, and the rule of law.

CAIDP Europe contributes to this goal by promoting a rights-based approach to AI regulation in Europe. Now that Europe is switching gears from AI policymaking to AI policy implementation, we need to ensure the human-centric application and enforcement of the AI-related legislative package.

CAIDP Europe performs civic, research, advisory and advocacy activities. Our mission is to assess European and national AI policies, legislation and practices, bring together and engage with AI policy leaders and promote democratic values in AI through civic awareness campaigns, public events and the publication of research & policy papers. CAIDP Europe aims to be a human-centric hub where like-minded partners with diverse backgrounds and expertise, such as civil society organizations and researchers, can exchange ideas, knowledge and experience and develop research- and fact-based policy positions. Only together can we have a positive impact in addressing the challenges AI poses to human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

Karine Caunes, Executive Director CAIDP Europe

If AI is transforming the world we live in and how we interact with each other, we need to ensure that citizens remain at the center of the AI revolution and the accompanying policy and legal processes. The opportunities of AI are only as good as our efforts to harness it for the good of all as well as our capacity to prevent, monitor and remedy risks and harms to our individual and collective rights.
